The Faces Of Life project launch took place at Lemigo Hotel

“I used to see the tall and big building of that hotel but I had never entered there. When we arrived there I was so excited and that time I saw that poor people can really sit with the kings as the bible say”.

Life should not only to be lived, it should be celebrated as well...



During organized dialogues of Faces of Life project, Rwandan women from vulnerable groups had a moment to cereblate life through photography





Faces of  life is a project by Kemit in the purpose to give a voice to Rwandan vulnerable women. This project is supported by the Commonwerlth Foundation


KEMIT is a humanitarian multimedia based organization in Rwanda with the expertise and experience of the production of audio-visual material and its use for development, education, sensitization and awareness. Our team has the technical and artistic skills to face the challenges that such a project brings.

“I thank Faces of life staff so much for thinking about poor people especially us (women).I learnt how I can educate my children very well. And I also learnt how I can create jobs. After attending the launch of Faces of life project, I mobilized other women and we created another cooperative of 17 persons in order to share with them what I learnt from Faces of life project. ”

The difference between before and after... "Faces of life project"

"The two days of the launch was so amazing. I learnt a lot of things even if the time was so limited. When I was there I found out that am not alone that has problems. Before going there, I didn't know that the photos are so important and I treated them as ornamental images but now it is different"

“Going to Lemigo hotel was so amazing. It is the best hotel. And when we arrived there, I though they were going only to give us certificates. But after, we danced with the authorities and we enjoyed a lot.”

“I am so thankful that I attended Faces of life launch. It has been a great moment for me. We have been well hosted and we learnta lot of things but importantly I learnt to be confident in all what I do. My husband left 7years ago, I raise my kids alone so I have to be confident. The photos that have been presented showed me that they are very important. They have to be well kept. ”

Faces of Life

     Faces of Life, is a KEMIT project supported by Commonwealth foundation.  



It's official launch took place on 27 November 2015 at Lemigo Hotel Kigali.

  After attending the discussions and the launch of the project, women, from vulnerable groups, the beneficiaries of "Faces of life" told Kemit that they find filming and photography very important.They are trying to gather all pictures of them and their families,because of the value they give to the photos after what they have learnt. They mostly find the love and the fidelity behind those photos.
    They also said that they feel more valuable after going to Lemigo Hotel and being given the certificates for attending the discussions and the launch of "Faces of life project.

Kemit visited all the attended women at their homes





 “I was an overwhelming feeling to go in a big hotel like that. It was my first time being there. I enjoyed a lot. I thought we were going to spend the whole night there dancing. I didn’t want to go home. And when I was given the certificate, I saw that faces of life project trust us. It made me very happy..”

“In 1989, I got a government scholarship of studying filming and photography in Korea but I didn’t finish, I only spent Two months there and came back because of race discrimination. From that time I was deceived and I couldn't continue studying but after attending the launch and the discussions of Faces of life project I feel like I am ready to restart those studies.”
